Fact Book

The Washington and Lee University Fact Book began as an official volume of the University's Self-Study Report which was submitted to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in March 1978 as part of the re-accreditation process.  In recent years, it has been trimmed to eliminate information readily available in other University publications.

In 2006, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness developed an online version for increased accessibility to frequently requested, public, current and historical University facts and figures.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness at Washington and Lee collects, analyzes, and reports accurate and consistent data to members of the the university community to facilitate decision-making and campus planning and to external sources including the federal and state government, publications and consortia.

The Common Data Set is a set of standards and definitions of data items and specific cohort definitions listing the university's most-requested data by major publishers (the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report).
